Narasimhan Mannadiar (Mammootty), a member of a royal family and the village lord of Kamaksipuram, is widely respected by his subjects for his wisdom, generosity and unbiased deliverance of justice. Narasimhan has a younger brother, Veerasimhan Mannadiar (Jayaram). The D.I.G of Police, Marar (Janardhanan), is one of Narasimhan's dearest friends. Marar has a number of enemies, and the most dangerous and feared among them is Hyder Marakkar (Tiger Prabhakar). Marakkar murdered Prathapan, Marar's son and Veerasimhan for which he has been sentenced to death. But there is no executioner daring enough to hang Marakkar. Mannadiar's revenge for his brothers death burns within him when Marakkar uses his influences to reduce his punishment of death sentence to life imprisonment. However, Mannadiar has promised Marar that he won't break the law. Now, its seems almost impossible for him to avenge his brother's death. Will he be able to take revenge without breaking his promise to Marar?
